Each year, we nominate and select members of the faculty or staff from LSU for two awards. We also solicit nominations from all of the Kiwanis clubs in the Baton Rouge area (Divisions 8E and 8W) to nominate candidates for two Kiwanis related awards from which we select the recipients. These awards are presented at an Annual Awards Luncheon, usually in late April or early May. We also recognize that year’s winner (and his/her parents) of our annual scholarship. Traditionally, we have given an award to the outgoing president of any Key Club that we sponsor, although our most recent sponsored club died when its school closed. LSU Distinguished Leadership Award – Given annually to a current employee of LSU who has demonstrated superlative leadership and management with a commitment to development of professionalism, expertise, and service to LSU. Selection is made by the club from among nominations from club members.
LSU Distinguished Service Award -Given annually to a current LSU employee with ten or more years of serivce or non-LSU person who has contributed significantly to the LSU community over an extended period and has accomplished notable achievements in his/her field that can be related to the LSU community. Selection is made by the club from among nominations from club members.
Ralph L. W. Schmidt Divisions 8E/8W Outstanding Kiwanian Award – Given annually to a current member of another Kiwanis club in Divisions 8E or 8W who has demonstrated significant contributions to his/her club over a period of time as well as other Kiwanis and/or community endeavors. Selection is made from among written nominations submitted by clubs or individuals in the two divisions.
Olin K. Dart, Jr., Divisions 8E/8W Kiwanian of the Year Award – Given annually to a current member of another Kiwanis club in Division 8E or 8W who has demonstrated significant contributions to his/her club and other community endeavors in the most recently completed Kiwanis year. Selection if made from among written nominationa submitted by clubs or individuals in the two divisions.
LSU Scholarships – $1,000 scholarships given annually to LSU students who are dependents of LSU faculty or staff as selected by LSU Office of Student Aid and Scholarships.
Key Club President Award – Presented annually to the outgoing president(s) of Key Club(s) sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of LSU.
