Kiwanis Recognitions

We provide service to our own club when we identify, nominate, and recognize members who have earned special recognition from Kiwanis International. By rewarding achievements of individual members, we promote active participation by all members and recruitment of additional members. The number of members and their level of participation are keys to the amount of service we can provide. They also affect the levels of friendship, enthusiasm, and networking we are able to foster. A list of past recipients of these awards is available here.

  • Legion of Honor – Certificate and special member pins given at 5-year intervals to each person who has been a member of one or more Kiwanis clubs for 25 years or more.
  • George F. Hixson Fellowship – Special medal and award given to an outstanding club member at irregular intervals in conjunction with major donations by the club, special fundraising, or individuals to the Kiwanis International Foundation.
  • Walter Zeller Fellowship – Special medal and award given to an outstanding club member at irregular intervals in conjunction with the club’s fundraising for and donations to the eliMiNaTe project of Kiwanis International.
  • Ruby K – Special pin given to a Kiwanis member who has recruited 5 or more new members during his/her Kiwanis career.  Starts at 5 and a new pin is issued at intervals of 5 additional new members.
  • Life Membership – Status attained by a member in whose name the club, other donors, or that member pays to Kiwanis International an amount equal to 15 times the annual membership dues. The club is then exempt from the dues portion of the annual Kiwanis assessments for that member.
  • Perfect Attendance – Special tab worn under the Kiwanis membership pin given to a member who for any 12-month period has either attended every meeting of the club or has made up any missed meetings by attending a club project, a Board meeting, a meeting/project/Board of another club, a meeting or project of a sponsored youth club, or a Kiwanis convention or conference.  Tabs show the number of years of perfect attendance and are replaced with a new tab each time a member accumulates an additional year. Qualifying 12-month periods are not required to be consecutive.
